The Siesta Key Village
Siesta Key is one of the top vacation destinations in Florida and has come a long way from its early days when it was accessible only by boat. Many visitors, often so enchanted by the precious island, decide to make it a permanent residence, at least for a portion of the year. Siesta Key is extremely popular among investors as property ownership has proven effective for producing great rental income. The island itself is also home to “America’s Most Beautiful Beach,” Siesta Key Beach, also ranked as one of the top ten most beautiful beaches in the world.
Siesta Key Village is a commercial district on the charming eight-mile barrier island of Siesta Key, just off the coast of Sarasota. Filled with nearly a hundred shops, restaurants, bars, and specialty boutiques, this laidback little beach village exudes the “islandesque” attitude that Siesta Key is so well known for.
The Village consists of a variety of establishments all within walking distance of each other along the island’s main throughway, Ocean Boulevard. Visitors will find just about everything one could ask for including restaurants, bars, beach clubs, swimwear, jewelry, souvenir shops, salons, spas, ice cream parlors, and even an island coffee shop.
The Siesta Key Oyster Bar, or SKOB as the locals call it, is a village favorite for its fantastic relaxed environment, live local music talent, and excellent menu. SKOB is also the best spot on the key to watch your favorite NFL team each Sunday on one of their many televisions.
The Daiquiri Deck next door is another popular restaurant and bar known for its massive selection of specialty daiquiri flavors. Those craving a finer cuisine with the same carefree Siesta ambiance choose The Hub Baja Grill. The Hub offers live island-inspired music most evenings and claims to have the best margarita on the island, the “Hub Rita.”
Just across the street from the Hub, The Beach Club offers some of the best nighttime entertainment including billiards, cocktails, exciting bands, the area’s best DJ’s, a VIP lounge, special events, and of course a place to dance the night away.
For a more family-friendly after-dinner treat, many islanders visit Big Olaf’s Creamery for some of their famous homemade ice cream. Another unique spot in the village is the Blasé Café & Martini Bar offering specialty martinis and a more relaxed lounge environment.
Siesta Key Village is a shopper’s paradise as well, with everything from jewelry to pet supplies available, options are limitless. The Beach-Bazaar is a must-stop shop offering a full selection of beach gear, swimwear, and souvenirs. The Foxy Lady located on the south end of the village is a high-end fashion house with a selection of designer clothes and accessories. This upscale boutique also offers a personal shopper for those who desire assistance in coordinating the perfect ensemble.
Whether one is in search of a Sunday morning Farmer’s Market, afternoon brunch, a day of shopping, or a night on the town, Siesta Key Village has it all. Many events take place throughout the year, including craft fairs, art shows, music festivals, pub crawls, charity events, the annual “Turkey Trot,” bikini contests, and much more.
